Plan F and Plan G are our most popular Medigap plans in Maryland within our own agency. Plan D and Plan N would follow. Choosing your best option for Medigap Plans in Maryland starts with your budget. Plan F ranges from $125 to $150 in most areas for a 65 year old female. A little more for men and more as your age increases. Plan G will typically save you as much as $600 a year, and the only difference is that Plan G has a $166 annual deductible, where Plan F is zero deductible.
For me, that’s a great trade off, $166 deductible for potentially $600 a year in savings, but, there is more. Plan G typically increases from year to year at a slower pace than Plan F. So with Plan G, your rates remain lower, longer, which saves you money year after year.
For those that are not able to spend even $100 a month on their Medigap Plans in Maryland, High Deductible Plan F is a good option. The high deductible Plan F starts at around $40 a month in most areas and offers all the benefits of Plan F with a simple deductible of $2,180 as of 2016. While this is the highest deductible of all Medigap plans, it’s significantly lower than the out of pocket maximum on most Medicare Advantage plans and is also much lower than the out of pocket most people have on their plans before they become elgible for Medigap Plans in Maryland.
As you can see from the chart above, Plan N and D just offer slightly different benefits by adding this or taking away that. When in doubt, speak with a broker who can quickly help you make sense of which plan will work best for you.
As always, Medigap Plans in Maryland will give you access to the entire Medicare network of doctors which is almost 1,000,000 providers large. This is a key difference to Medicare Advantage plans which have much smaller networks that restrict where you can and can’t go.
